Fantastic Mr Fox; Looking at story settings and character descriptions (focus on adjectives)

Comprehension work on Fantastic Mr Fox

Grammar; Verbs, Punctuation (focus on capitals, full stops, commas and question marks)

Non-Fiction;

To enquire, interview, survey & question

Complete a survey about materials used in the home

Enquiry about Plastics (devise questions for parents about plastics used around the home)

Devise a questionnaire about how often different materials are used

Mathematics and Numeracy:

Place Value (Hundreds, Tens and Units)

Problem solving activities

Number Bonds to 10, 20 and 100

Using number bond strategies to help add and subtract single digits to and from a 2-digit and 3-digit number

Adding and subtracting multiples of 10

Multiplying and dividing by 5 and 10

Materials and their properties

Find a range of different materials used inside and outside the classroom, e.g. plastic, glass, wood, metal

Mrs L is teaching Music and as well as our school Christmas production, pupils will be studying primitive rhythms and drumming.

Humanities:The Celts

When the Celts lived in Wales (Using a timeline)

What the Celts dressed in/ what they ate/ how they prepared for battle/ what their homes were like

Mrs Lucas is teaching Geography and Religious Education to Year 3. In Geography, pupils will be studying The Celts and Me. We’ll be looking at The Story of Noah’s Ark in RE.  In both subjects, it would be helpful if children could look for information and pictures on the Internet or borrow books from Brynteg’s excellent library.

Weekly spellings to be learnt for a test on a Wednesday

Home reading book to be read at home (can be brought back any day of the week). At least one book a week to be read by the children and parents to listen and comment on their reading.
